Noise: If you hear any high pitched noise coming from the outdoor or indoor unit – turn off the breaker and call for repair. This a major sign that something is going wrong with your system.
Low output: If you notice that your system is not performing like you are used to, it’s a sign that it could be low on refrigerant after developing a leak. It is important to get your system looked at as soon as possible as low refrigerant levels can cause major damage to your compressor.
Blank thermostat: If your thermostat won’t light up or is not bringing the system on, it can be sign of a bigger electrical problem. A possible blown fuse, short circuit or bad thermostat could be the problem.
Tripped breaker: If your system trips the breaker it is important to reset it only once and to call right away for service. It is a sign of a major fault in your system and resetting the breaker multiple times will require it to be replaced.
Smells: If you smell gas turn off the gas supply and breaker immediately and call for service. If you smell any burnt smells, musty smells, or chemical smells call for service right away.
Maintenance: Your system should be serviced annually to keep it in proper working order. Keeping the system clean is essential for efficient operation and to extend the life of the equipment. Other checks of the refrigerant levels, electrical connections, airflow, pipe connections and more are also necessary.
